Northampton Neighbors’ Love Letter to the City of Northampton
On Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11 am, the DoozyDo Parade, an unconventional celebration in—and of—the City of Northampton, will step off from Northampton’s Center for the Arts at 33 Hawley and march up Main Street to the Academy of Music Theatre. Led by Grand-ish Marshals Kelsey Flynn and Bill Dwight, this joyful, multigenerational, outdoor celebration will feature over 20 teams, including the Doozy Hair-Do’s, Woodstar’s Competitive Coffee Drinkers and Liars Club, and The Bad Mittens, as well as local nonprofits and businesses, bands, roller derby enthusiasts, a bagpiper, Taiko drummers, antique cars and trucks, and the gargoyle that once kept watch over Main Street from atop the Words & Pictures Museum.
The DoozyDo is a multi-purpose event: a way to raise awareness and support for Northampton Neighbors, a volunteer-based organization providing free programs and services to help older adults in Northampton, Florence, and Leeds live independent, engaged lives in their homes and communities; a joyful intergenerational gathering; and a way to strengthen existing community ties and create new ones in the city we love.
“It will be a guaranteed spectacle! You Doozy-Don’t want to miss it.”
-Grand-ish Marshal Kelsey Flynn
